COVID-19 Cumulative Cases and Deaths Around the World

The coronavirus has already spread to almost every country in the world. It has led to a substantial loss of human life worldwide.

The map gives a good overview on which countries are impacted the most by the virus. It can be seen based on the number of cases as well as deaths, and each country is coloured based on different classes of severity.

Correlation Between Cases and Deaths

There seems to be a strong relationship between the number of cases and the number of deaths. Generally, the more COVID-19 cases a country has, the more deaths the country will suffer.

Daily Development of COVID-19

From the charts, we can see that the trajectory of the vaccination rate is far steeper than that of cases and deaths. The number for daily cases and deaths have also been declining, one of the causes for that might be the recent increase in number of daily vaccinations.

Vaccination Distribution by Vaccine Type

The distribution of the visualization is skewed, this is due to a majority of countries using the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine as their main vaccine . That’s not surprising considering it is the first vaccine to be deployed and has an efficacy rate of 95%.

That being said, there are also countries that uses either the Moderna or Sinovac vaccine as their vaccine of choice.

Total Vaccinations by Manufacturer

BioNTech/Pfizer are currently the leading COVID-19 manufacturers worldwide, they cover more than half of the world’s vaccine demands. The BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine has an efficacy rate of 95%, comparatively, other vaccines made by different manufacturers such as Moderna, and Oxford/AstraZeneca have efficacy rates of 94.1%, and 63.09% respectively. The BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine is also currently the first and only vaccine to be approved by the FDA.

Percentage of Fully Vaccinated People

In order to combat this disease, we need as many people to be fully vaccinated . People that have been fully vaccinated are less prone to get the virus. Besides that, they are also less likely to get any serious symptoms if they did get COVID.
